The Smokey N' Salted is the perfect cocktail to shake up on a warm summer day! Batch the homemade Salted Cucumber Syrup ahead of time for a smooth and refreshing drink rounded out with a mezcal kick.
1 1/2 oz Wheyward Spirit
1/2 oz Mezcal
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz Salted Cucumber Syrup
Garnish: Orange peel, thin cucumber ribbon, Tajin spicy salt rim, or kosher salt rim
Rim glass with Tajin or a mixture of Tajin and kosher salt. Set aside.
Measure the Wheyward Spirit, mezcal, juice, and syrup into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Espress orange peel oil over drink, twist and add to drink. Garnish with cucumber.
Salted Cucumber Syrup
Makes about 30 ounces
1 1/2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1/2 English cucumber with skin on, cut in large chunks (about 1 cup)
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
Puree ingredients in a blender, and then strain with a fine mesh strainer. Bottle and store refrigerated up to 5 days. Shake well before serving.
